DAMAGE

DAMAGE

I am appointed by major Insurers and specialize in marine insurance claims. If a vessel is involved in an incident or accident Insurers will often appoint an independent marine surveyor to investigate and compile a Damage Survey Report. This can be a traumatic experience for owners, notably if the damage occurs in a foreign port or third parties are involved. I will always do my best to provide a prompt, professional and efficient service minimizing the stresses that can arise in such circumstances.

My instructing clients are usually Underwriters, however I still remain independent. I produce a detailed, technically based factual report on the cause, nature and extent of damage sustained and make comments on relevant repairs and costs. This will include interviewing owners, witnesses, Authorities, boatyard staff, etc to fully establish the circumstances of the incident. This investigation needs to be done with attention to detail, notably if injuries to crew or third parties have been sustained. If you are not comprehensively insured, or if you think a third party may be responsible for the incident or damage or if you have any other concerns I can be appointed by individual owners to protect their interests.

Through my membership of the International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI) I have worldwide access to a large network of marine professionals both governmental and civilian.

I can act as an expert witness and have a network of associates and specialists including naval architects, designers, forensic fire investigation scientists, scenes of crimes departments and other experts carrying out material/analytical testing on hulls, structures, rigs, marine systems, components, etc.

I have good contacts and work with major UK Legal Firms specializing in all aspects of Maritime Law.
